If you've done any research into growing a YouTube channel, chances are you've heard about the importance of consistency on YouTube. Does YouTube reward consistency? Yes, they do, which is why it's always said to be important. But how important is consistency, and is the effort worth the reward?

If you want to achieve success on YouTube, you will need to publish new videos consistently. Consistency is one of the most important aspects of growing a channel, and YouTube does reward it. So, if you want to have a chance at success, you should prioritize consistency so you can be rewarded with more views, subscribers, and channel growth.

While consistency is important, a lot of people believe it's important for the wrong reason. You see, consistency is important for a much more technical reason than most people say. Sure, your audience will appreciate new videos from you regularly, but this isn't the biggest benefit consistent uploads can help you and your channel receive.

Why Is Consistency Important on YouTube

Why is consistency important on YouTube? Is it because viewers prefer regular uploads from channels they are subscribed to? Or, is the reason a bit more technical than this? While viewers do prefer regular uploads from channels they subscribe to, there is a more technical reason why consistency is important.

As I have stated in some of my other articles, the YouTube algorithm is the gatekeeper to growth. This means that, as a content creator, you should do your best to satisfy the YouTube algorithm. When you upload consistently and combine this with the following of other best practices, you satisfy the algorithm.

You see, there are metrics that the algorithm looks at to determine the quality of a video. Such metrics include views, watch time, average view duration, click-through rate, and more. These metrics take time to build up. However, when you publish videos consistently, the time it takes to build up these metrics decreases.

Often, people start a YouTube channel to grow an audience fast. Many people are not prepared for the long-term journey that is required for every content creator to go on to achieve success. Consistency cannot be done in the short-term. If you want to achieve success, you'll need to be consistent in the long-term.

Posting Consistently on YouTube

It's no secret that posting consistently on YouTube can be a difficult task. Creating videos, designing thumbnails, optimizing metadata- there's a lot of work that needs to be done! However, there are things that you can do to make the task of publishing videos consistently an easier task.

I've been around YouTube since 2010, and I've learned a thing or two about posting videos consistently. The following things have helped me and many other content creators make the task of uploading new videos consistently much easier. So, give these tips a try and see if they help you!

Organization is Key

Have you ever turned on your camera or microphone to create a video and not known what to make a video about? If so, you'd be like a lot of other content creators. As one might assume, it can be difficult to upload new videos consistently when you're unable to record videos consistently. The easiest solution for this problem is organization.

You see, many content creators simply are not organized. They don't take the time to gather a list of topics, so they end up not knowing what to create videos about. If more content creators would simply take the time to research and discover a list of topics, they'd be able to create more videos.

So, if you've struggled to upload new videos consistently, consider this: You might not be an organized content creator. You should have a list of video topics available to you at all times. You should never be turning on your recording equipment and not knowing what to talk about.

Batch, Batch, Batch

Many content creators struggle to become efficient. They record a video at 4:00 PM, edit it, optimize it, and then upload it at 7:00 PM. Then, they repeat this same process over and over until they begin to suffer from burnout. What if creators didn't follow this process, and instead were able to have videos created weeks in advance?

One of the best-kept secrets of successful YouTube content creators is batching. Batching is essentially when you perform a specific task for a given period before moving on to the next task. For example, a way to batch the video recording process would be to spend an entire week just recording videos before editing a single clip of footage.

Many large content creators batch enough videos to last them a month. The popular YouTube channel Game Grumps used to record 4 videos a day. Imagine recording 20 videos a week! With this said, batching shouldn't only be done for recording videos, it should be done for editing and optimizing videos as well.

Create a Schedule

When we think of schedules concerning YouTube, we often think of publishing or upload schedules. But what about schedules for other aspects of YouTube? Going off of what I mentioned above, creating a video creation schedule can help make creating videos a much easier process.

Many large channels record all of their videos on a specific day. Then, they edit all of the recorded videos on another day. After this, they optimize all of the videos on a specific day. Finally, they design thumbnails, add end screens, and add cards. Then, they repeat this rotation, typically while batching the creation of their videos.

Keep in mind, you don't need to schedule specific tasks for specific days- that's just what many large creators do. Since you might have a job, for example, you might not have enough time to devote entire days to specific tasks. So, try creating an hourly schedule. For example, every single weekday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM could be set aside to perform YouTube tasks.

Conclusion

If you're a content creator, it would be in your best interest to publish videos as consistently as possible. Does YouTube reward consistency? Yes, they do. So, the sooner you start to get consistent views, the better. However, doing this might be a difficult task for you. So, try to become more organized, try batching, and try creating a YouTube schedule for yourself.
